- At 22.8mm in length, almost as wide as the diameter of a 100 yen coin, and weighing only about 125g, this lens is the thinnest and lightest in the EF-S lens series.

- When combined with the compact and lightweight EOS Kiss X7 digital SLR camera, the EOS system weighs approximately 495g, which is about the same weight as a 500ml plastic bottle of beverage.

- When attached to an interchangeable lens camera with an APS-C size CMOS sensor, the focal length image is approximately 38mm, a natural angle of view close to the human eye.
