The 16mm F1.4 DC DN Contemporary is the first large-aperture wide-angle lens for Sony E-mount and Fujifilm X-mount APS-C mirrorless cameras, equivalent to 24mm F1.4 in 35mm format. This is the long-awaited large-aperture wide-angle lens for mirrorless camera users.
- High image quality comparable to the Art line
The luxurious 13-group, 16-element lens construction is comparable to that of large-aperture lenses for full-frame cameras, and includes three FLD glass elements, two SLD glass elements, and two glass-molded aspherical lens elements. The lens has low levels of aberration and high resolving power from the maximum aperture. In particular, the two glass-molded aspherical lenses have their surfaces processed with nano-order precision to suppress spiral line blurring that tends to occur with aspherical lenses, resulting in a clear image across the entire image. This lens configuration also allows the lens to bend light gently, minimizing sagittal coma flare and achieving high optical performance from the center to the periphery. In order to maintain beautiful circular bokeh even at the periphery of the image, the lens incorporates a large amount of peripheral light.

The optical design for movie AF and the stepping motor enable natural focus work with autofocus.
- Large hood included
The hood effectively cuts harmful light that adversely affects the lens rendering and prevents internal reflections from occurring. The hood is equipped with anti-slip grooves and rubber to prevent slipping when shooting while holding the hood.
